Gorgeous Family at the Beach

One of the best things about being a photographer is that I get to meet so many nice people. This family was a joy to be around. Every one was fun, nice and positive. We got some awesome shots! The dogs, Lucy and Crissy, were so excited to be at the beach. It was fun to watch them run in the water. I mentioned in an earlier blog that I really like freckles. I like red hair of all shades, too. With the golden light it was extra fun to take these pictures. I love the shot of the "boys" in the sand and the 4 "girls" standing in the background.

Athena at the Beach

The shoot is dear to my heart: I've known this beautiful senior since she was born. Her mom and dad are very close friends of ours and I was so happy I got to do her Senior shoot. Athena is not only beautiful and smart, but really relaxed and fun to hang out with. She is a total jock, an excellent gourmet cook and all around nice person. I love how different she looks in the different outfits.
Okay, the first picture was inspired my the movie Mamma Mia I saw with my friend Liz in Minnesota. Athena and the setting totally remind me of the beautiful girl in the movie, on this incredible island in Greece ( I spent 3 summers in Greece as a kid and miss it). Athena did Junior Life guards like our kids, so I had to do the tower picture. I love Athena's sunset top, looks like my website colors :), ENDLESS SUMMER inspired.

Beautiful Eyes

Another beautiful family at the beach! This fun family was full of life and truly enjoyed being
at the beach. Kyle and little Sullivan kept wanting to go in the ocean, kids after my own heart.
I love the close ups of their faces and their incredible eye colors. All natural, too (No digital magic used :) ). Kyle was so sweet to his sister, and patient with me ("Just one more shot....). Sullivan's beautiful smile made almost every picture amazing. Here are a few favorites....

Minnesota Trip

Last weekend I played hooky from photography and being a mom and finally flew to Minnesota to visit my buddy Liz and her family. They moved to MN 8 years ago from California and love it there. I could see why. What a beautiful, green, pretty place with lots of nice people. We tried to cram in as much as possible: strolling through lovely Excelsior, sitting on a fishing pier, lots of quaint coffee shops, antique stores, driving to the country for more antique stores, finding an awesome spot for Liz's Christmas picture and taking it 5 minutes before the rain started, watching Mamma Mia together (and yes-singing along- we are both closet ABBA fans), a fantastic tour of Lake Minnetonka on their boat with captain Jon (her hubby)-fish tacos and wine included, Ben & Jerry's, dinner at Liz's favorite Thai place, watching fun movies in their newly finished basement/movie theatre, wrestling with her two boys, and of course lots of talking.....
Thanks to our awesome husbands who held down the fort so we could have fun! You guys rock!

Golden Beach Family

Last Friday was a totally windy day at the beach,  hardly any surfers, just lots of kite boarders. And they were flying! However the lighting was glorious, just golden!  These kids love the beach, they were running around happily, splashing in the water, and climbing on the rocks. They gave me a work out, but I'm so glad they did. I love how natural all the photos are , I feel I really captured their personalities.
By the way, the hand picture was completely unposed and unprompted. (is that a word?).
I'm glad mom and dad got into some of the photos as well, what a So.Cal. family.

Hip Family

It was a fun change to do a shoot "in town". I love this location, and this mom and dad even got engaged here This was the perfect spot for them. Everyone was a total pro, making my job so easy. I'm serious, you guys, you need an agent for the whole family! Here are few of my favorite shots.
